Nobody Wants This Netflix- Episode 2 Recap and Explained-begins with a lovestruck Noah and Joanne lost in each other’s eyes when they’re broken off from their trance by the reality that envelops them. Surrounded by family, friends and other temple-goers, Noah feels embarrassed and asks Joanne to wait outside the temple. While Noah’s inquisitive mother inquires about the sudden appearance of a mysterious girl in his life, Joanne patiently waits outside. She calls Morgan to get rid of the woman outside the temple who rebukes her for loitering. Putting the pieces of this strange encounter together Morgan concludes that Joanne is to be stood up by Noah, who is making her wait so long in order to escape. She then picks Joanne up from outside the temple.
Inside the temple, a restless Noah flocked by the people, is unable to get out. However, he makes it out in the nick of time only to see Joanne and Morgan leaving. He apologises to Joanne for his tardiness and along with his brother Sasha, drives away with them to a neighbourhood bar. An awkward encounter in the car when Morgan’s text to Joanne about Noah’s good looks is read out loud by the car radio further cements their bond. At the bar, they bond some more over deep secrets before being interrupted by Sasha’s wife Esther. Esther admonishes Noah for getting over his engagement with Rebecca so quickly and already moving on to Joanne, which leaves the latter in shock about the recent turn of events.
The next day, Noah’s family sits him down for an intervention for dating a gentile. On the other hand, Joanne’s deal with the streaming company progresses into success. In a little rift with Morgan about the podcast’s intention we see an ideological difference between the sisters. While Morgan sees the podcast as a sex talk show catering to the needs of the masses, Joanne envisions it as something much more empowering for women all over. This thought is also reflected by Noah when he counsels a married couple and takes Joanne’s podcast advice of recounting personal experiences to help others. Here, he is influenced by the discussion the two had at the bar the night before.
Thinking of her after the couple’s therapy session, Noah texts Joanne to meet for dinner to clear all misunderstandings. Reluctant at first, Joanne finally agrees. Pretending to be in a hurry at first, Joanne is eased into the conversation when Noah tells her of the advice he followed and how it played out. After dinner, they walk around eating ice cream before bidding their adiues. While they aim to depart as friends, they are caught in a sensuous moment as they kiss each other goodbye.

After dropping Joanne into her cab, Noah picks up the missed calls from Rebecca he had been avoiding throughout their dinner date. A perplexing concern grows across his face as he picks up the phone, leaving the episode on yet another cliffhanger as to what happened to Rebecca and how it would affect the already tumultuous relationship between Noah and Joanne.
