Netflix Nobody Wants This -Episode 7 revolves around Joanne and Noah trying to impress each other’s friend groups to fit in their social circles. While Noah charms his way into Joanne’s group, things are a little harder for Joanne. Playing his cards right with Joanne’s friends, Noah gets their approval, but for Joanne to socialise with Noah’s friends, she has a lot tougher hearts to win.
Joanne visits Noah at his basketball game where she meets his friends for the first time. Fulfilling all the duties of a supportive girlfriend, she cheers, claps and heckles players at the game, getting into the good books of all the men. However, she digs her own grave when she invites the winners out for drinks, meeting their wives for the first time. The wives, who are close friends of Rebecca, do not mingle with Joanne and keep to themselves. It is as difficult to impress the wives as it is easy to appease their husbands.
Having a compulsive need to be liked by everyone, Joanne, with the help of Noah plots a scheme to befriend the ladies. Being obsessed with Noah’s ex Rebecca, she continues to stalk her and compare herself with her. Noah advises Joanne by feeding her information about the wives because if they don’t like her, neither will their husbands. While everyone else gets swayed by Joanne’s moves instantly, Esther, Rebecca’s best friend is a tough nut to crack. When Noah’s plan of talking shit about others with Esther fails, Joanne brings in the big guns aka her sister Morgan.
Morgan comes to the basketball playoffs with a bottle of tequila, ready to turn the mean-girl dynamic on its head. She transforms the boring ambience of the match into a drinking game. The wives take a shot every time their husbands’ team misses a shot. By the end of the game, the women are so inebriated that they cheer even when their team misses the winning basket. Esther lets her guard down a little but remains suspicious of Joanne and loyal to Rebecca. However, even a cordial conversation with Esther is a big win for Joanne. Meanwhile, Sasha and Morgan grow close as he drops her home after the game. The two develop a rather awkward and unexpected friendship as the loser siblings. A jealous Rebbecca spots the lovebirds, Noah and Joanne post the match and seethes with envy.
The episode ends with Joanne finding a box full of Rebecca’s belongings in Noah’s closet. While she does not invade his privacy by opening the box, jealousy and insecurity linger at the back of her mind. The episode ends with a curious and anxious Joanne looking deeply disturbed by the presence of the box in Noah’s room. Maybe trouble awaits for Noah and Joanne’s short-lived paradise in the final episodes.
